This elegant and hollow glass penguin use to be the top to a base of some sort as the bottom of the penguin has grooves to screw in to something.  Alas, that piece is gone, but unless you pick it up and look closely, you'd never know.  The penguin looks and stands great and dates back to the 1970's. Also the darkness of his beak is merely a light reflection.
